FAQs

What is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is not a medical treatment, but rather training for the whole brain (0.001hz to 64hz).

How does Neurofeedback work?

This particular system works with functional brain instabilities. As the brain starts to move into a functional instability, the sound you hear pauses briefly. The brain immediately pulls itself back from these instabilities and over time the brain learns to manoeuvre around such instabilities instead of falling into them, resulting in fewer issues and improved functioning.

What does a neurofeedback session involve?

Three sensors will be clipped to your ears and two will be attached to your head with conductive paste. These are attached to the zAmp which is attached to a tablet. For 33 mins you will listen to some relaxing music and if you wish, you can watch the visuals being displayed on the tablet screen. Alternatively, you can close your eyes and relax. The session is pain-free and non-invasive.

How many sessions will I need until I see results?

This will vary greatly from one person to the next as everyone's central nervous system is different. Personally, I noticed a change after my second session and I still continue with weekly sessions.

How many sessions will I need?

Once again, as our central nervous systems are so different it's hard to say. You may find that two or three sessions is enough or you may find a more complete training program of 20 - 30 sessions more suitable.

How long will the results last?

Neurofeedback is all about learning, like learning to ride a bike, you can't unlearn this information but the brain is living tissue and it can get 'knocked off' by challenges, hormonal changes and stresses from every day life. Even if you continue your training 10 years later, your brain will instantly be reminded of the earlier shifts it made and will find it's way back much more quickly than when you first started your training.
